Principal Consultant

Katherine has over a decade of experience working at the intersection of gender equality, international development and humanitarian response. She has built her career advising INGOs and the UN system to develop evidence-based strategies and programmes to advance gender equality and social inclusion across Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe.

Passionate about supporting organizations to promote gender equality in all aspects of their work, Katherine is an experienced facilitator with rich experience developing tailored capacity building packages and driving participatory strategic planning processes. She has worked as a Gender Advisor for large INGOs such as Plan International, Girl Effect and VSO, co-creating community-driven solutions to complex social problems. As a gender technical specialist, Katherine has been able to apply a gender lens to a range of social issues, building expertise in gender-based violence, sexual and reproductive health and rights and education; engaging stakeholders at all levels from community leaders to senior government officials.

She most recently worked for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Headquarters, supporting key workstreams to prevent sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment within the UN-system. Katherine has expertise in both development and humanitarian contexts, from managing gender-based violence programmes in refugee camps in Rwanda to overseeing a sexual and reproductive health programme for adolescent boys in the Europe migrant response.

In addition to first-hand experience leading gender equality programmes on the ground, Katherine has coordinated a number of research projects on health equity and women's health. Katherine has an MA in Sociology, with a specialization in Gender from the University of Toronto.
