Leva is a Gender Equality Consultant, specializing in women’s economic empowerment, education, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and social norms. She has over 14 years of experience working with diverse stakeholders to integrate gender equality outcomes in development and humanitarian settings.  Leva has worked on feminist evaluations, monitoring and learning frameworks, research, and advisory roles for both public and private institutions working in Africa, the Middle East, North America, Latin America and the Caribbean.

Leva has extensive experience working with formal and informal organizations advocating for gender equality. She is a leader in designing and implementing participatory approaches that embed feminist facilitating skills centered on the voices of the most marginalized. She has significant experience working with formal and informal women’s rights organizations, activists, human rights defenders, local partners, power holders, and communities to advance gender equality.

Leva has a PhD in Education and Gender Studies from the University of Ottawa in Canada, and a Master’s in International Development from York University in Canada. Leva has designed and taught many graduate-level courses focused on social innovation and development, gender-based analysis and development, and social movements and development.
